“調休”英語怎樣說？

“調休”的字面意思就是“互換休憩時間”，特指“原定休假的時間不休憩而互換到別的的時間再休憩”，那么在英文中就可翻譯為change one's shift to get leave later。

“短假”英語怎樣說？

“短期休假”是指歷時很短的假期，尋常就是指兩三天的短假，在英文中就可用mini-break來表現。

例句：

Winners of the competition will win a three-night mini-break in Paris.

比賽的得勝者將取得在巴黎為期三晚的短期休假。

My three-day winter mini-break began on Friday with an evening flight from Heathrow.

我為期三天的冬天短假自周五夜晚從希思羅機場騰飛開頭。

“告假”英語怎樣說？

ask for/ request a leave

leave在這里不是“分開”的意思，而是指“休假”。假如告假不止一天，還可以說ask for two days' leave指“請兩天的假”。

例句：

I have to ask for a leave tomorrow morning.

我明天上午得告假了。

“假條”我們可以說：leave of absence letter。

call in sick

sick作形貌詞有“惡心的；抱病的”等意思，假如你病得舒服想告假，那么可以用call in sick這個短語，它在《麥克米倫高階英漢雙解辭書》中的英文釋義是：to phone someone at the place where you work to tell them you are too ill to work，表現“打電話（到單位）請病假”。

I don't feel well this morning. Perhaps I ought to call in sick.

pull/ throw a sickie
