Hi, I'm Niamh. Welcome to Oxford Online English.
嗨,我是Niamh。接待分開牛津大學在線英語講堂。
In this lesson, you can learn to talk about sports in English. Are you a sport fan?
在本節課程中,你可以學到怎樣用英語議論活動。你是活動迷嗎?
What sports do you like playing? Sport is a common topic in English conversation, so whether you like sport or not, it's good to have something to say and be able to to ask some questions about sport.
你喜好什么活動呢?活動是英文對話中非經稀有的話題,以是無論你對否喜好活動,有關于活動的話可以議論、有關于活動的成績可以問,總歸是很好的。
First question: do you like sport? Think about how you could answer.
第一個成績:你喜好運功嗎?想想你會怎樣作答。
You could say something like: I've always been really sporty.
你約莫會如此說:我超等熱愛活動。
I enjoy some sports, though I'm not a fanatic. I'm not that into sport, to be honest.
我喜好活動,固然沒那么狂熱。講真,我并不是很喜好活動。
Do you know what the words sporty and fanatic mean? Sporty describes someone who's really interested in sport, and who often plays sport.
你曉得 sporty 和 fanatic 是什么意思嗎?Sporty指的好壞常喜好活動、也常?;顒拥娜恕?/span>
A fanatic literally means someone who only cares about one thing. You can use it with an indirect meaning to describe someone who's really interested in something.
Fanatic字面上的意思是只十分體貼某個東西的人。你可以用它的直接涵義,來形貌對某個事變特別感興致的人。
So if you say, I enjoy some sports, though I'm not a fanatic, you mean that you like sport, but it's not the most important thing for you. Okay, you have three sentences.
以是假如你說,我喜好某些活動,只管并不是狂酷喜好者的時分,你的意思是你喜好活動,但是活動于你而言并不是最緊張的事變。好的,你如今有三個句子。
Which is closest to your opinion? These are good sentences to start talking, but remember you should always add more detail if possible!
哪個和你的意見最接近呢?這是開好的句子來開頭議論,但是要記取,假如可以的話,要多加上一點細節!
Let's add some reasons or details to the three sentences you saw: I've always been really sporty.
讓我們給你看到的三個句子加上一些緣故大概細節吧。我不休十分熱愛活動。
I loved sport when I was a kid, and I still play most weeks. I enjoy some sports, though I'm not a fanatic.
我是個孩子的時分就很喜好活動,如今每周基本照舊要活動。我喜好活動,只管并不是很狂熱。
Playing football or something like that can be fun, but I don't want to take it too seriously. I'm not that into sport, to be honest.
踢踢足球還挺好玩的,但是我不想把它搞得太嚴厲。講真,我不是很喜好活動。
I'm not very athletic and I find watching sport quite boring. These are already much better.
我不是活動型的人,并且我以為看體育的東西很無聊。這些句子很多了。
If you can add reasons or details when you speak, your speaking will sound better, too! Let's look at some useful words here:
假如你語言的時分可以加上一點緣故大概細節,你的發言也會聽起來更好的!讓我們看看一些有效的單詞:
Athletic describes someone who's in good shape and who enjoys exercise and sport. If you say I'm not very athletic you mean that you aren't very good at sport, and probably you don't really enjoy it, either.
Athletic是用來形貌那些身體很好,很喜好訓練和活動的人。假如你說我不是活動型的人的話,那也就是說,你不是很善于活動,約莫也不喜好。
Another very useful phrase is I find… , as in I find watching sport quite boring. This is a very good way to give your opinion about something.
另一個十分有效的句子是我以為...,好比:我以為看體育的東西很無聊。這是一種很好的展現你對某個事物看法的辦法。
For example: I find watching snooker weirdly fascinating.
好比說:我以為觀看斯諾克超等好玩。
I find swimming very relaxing. I found volleyball much more difficult to play than I was expecting.
我以為游泳十分令人輕松。我以為排球比我想象中更難打。
So, what about you? Do you like sport?
那你怎樣以為呢?你喜好活動嗎?
Pause the video and make at least two sentences. Remember to add reasons and details.
停息視頻,本人造最少兩個句子。記取要加上緣故和細節。
Okay? Next, we're going to look at how to talk about different kinds of sport in more detail.
好嗎?接下去,我們要看一下怎樣具體地議論不同品種的活動。
How many team sports can you name in English? What did you think of?
你能用英語說出幾種團隊活動?你想到了什么呢?
Maybe you thought of team sports like football, basketball, hockey, volleyball or cricket. Do you play any team sports?
約莫你想到了足球、籃球、曲棍球、排球大概板球這些團隊活動。你玩什么團隊活動呢?
Usually with team sports, we use the verb play. You could say something like:
我們通常會用 play 這個詞來形貌團隊活動。你可以說:
I play football. I like playing basketball.
我踢足球。我喜好打籃球。
I really enjoy playing cricket.?But, of course, these answers are much too short and lacking in detail!
我真的喜好打板球。但是,固然了,這些答案太短了,并且缺乏細節!
So, think about these questions: where do you play, how often and who with? By answering these simple questions, you can make your answer much more detailed and interesting, like this:
以是,想想這些成績:你在何處玩,多久玩一次以及和誰一同玩?經過回復這些成績,你可以讓你的答案愈加具體、愈加幽默,就像:
I play 5-a-side football with some friends every Sunday. We rent a sports hall and play a 60-minute match.
我每周日和一些伙伴玩五對五足球。我們租了一一局部育館,打六十分鐘的比賽。
Or, I like playing basketball. I play for a local team.
大概,我喜好打籃球。我在當地的一個隊里打籃球。
We train three times a week and have matches once or twice a week, sometimes in our town, and sometimes in other cities. Do you get the idea?
我們每周練習三次,每周會有一兩次比賽,偶爾分在我們本人的城鎮,有的時分在其他的都市。你懂了嗎?
Let's do one more example, just to make sure: I really enjoy playing cricket.
以防萬一,我們再來做一個練習:我十分喜好打板球。
I joined an online group and we meet in the park once a week for a game. Different people play every week, which keeps things interesting!
我到場了一個網上小組,每周在公園里碰面打比賽。每周打的人都不一樣,十分幽默!
These examples give you some useful language you can use when you speak. For example:
這些例子會給你一些你在說的時分可以用得上的有效的言語。好比說:
I play for a local team. We play a 60-minute match once a week.
我在當地的一個步隊打。我們每周打一場六十分鐘的比賽。
I joined an online group. You can change these to make them true for you, like this:
我到場了一個網上小組。你可以厘革一下,讓它們切合你本身的情況,就像:
I play for my school team. We play a friendly match a couple of times a month.
我在校隊打。我們每周打多次交情賽。
I joined a club near my home. So, what about you?
我到場了家四周的一個俱樂部。以是,你呢?
Use the language with this section and talk about team sports you like. If you don't play team sports now, or if you don't like team sports, try to talk about a friend or relative.
使用這節課內里的言語,討論一下你喜好的團隊活動。假如你如今并不玩什么團隊活動,大概你不喜好團隊活動,試著去議論一個伙伴大概是親戚。
Pause the video and make your answer. You can also write your answer down if you want extra practice!
停息視頻,構造一下你的答案。假如你想要分外的練習的話,你可以寫下的你的答案!
How was that? Next, a question: what's the opposite of a team sport?
怎樣樣?接下去的成績:和團隊活動相反的是什么?
There's the answer: individual sports. Can you name five different individual sports in English?
答案是:一局部活動。你能用英語說五個不同的一局部活動嗎?
Maybe you said things like tennis, badminton, swimming, boxing, running or gymnastics. Of course, some of these can be team sports as well, like tennis or badminton.
你約莫會說:網球、羽毛球、游泳、拳擊、跑步大概是體操。固然了,這內里有些可以是團隊活動,好比說網球大概是羽毛球。
With individual sports, you may need to use different verbs. You play tennis and play badminton, but you go swimming, go running, do boxing and do gymnastics.
你必要用不同的動詞來形貌一局部活動。你打網球大概羽毛球,但是你去游泳、去跑步、打拳擊大概是做體操。
A good general rule is: Play plus ball sports; go plus an activity ending -ing; do plus other activities.
大抵的紀律是如此的:Play修飾球類活動;go 后方加以ing開頭的活動;do加其他的活動。
And yes, you say do boxing even though boxing ends with -ing. Remember: it's a general rule!
是的,只管 boxing 是以-ing開頭的,你照舊要說 do 拳擊。記?。哼@只是一個約莫的紀律!
It will work most of the time, but not every time. So, think about the same questions you answered in the last section.
大大多時分都是對的,但并不是每次都對。以是,想想你在上一局部回復的相反的成績。
What sports do you like doing? Where do you do them, how often, and who with?
你喜好什么活動?你在何處做活動,多久一次,和誰一同呢?
Look at one possible answer: I go running by myself or with my husband.
讓我們看看一個答案:我本人,大概是和我丈夫一同去跑步。
I go once a week or so. I like going running in the park or just around the streets.
我一周約莫去個一次。我喜幸而公園跑步,大概就在街上跑跑。
What do you think—is this a good answer? It's not bad, but it's a bit repetitive and simple.
你以為怎樣樣——這是一個好的答案嗎?這個答案還不錯,但是有點反復,也太簡便了。
Every sentence starts with the same word ('I') , which sounds unnatural. How could you improve it?
每個句子都是以相反的單詞 “I” 開頭,聽起來并不天然。你怎樣改良這個句子呢?
Here's one suggestion: I like going running once a week or so, sometimes in the park or just around the streets.
這里有一個發起:我喜好每周去跑一次步,偶爾在公園里,偶爾就沿著街跑。
Sometimes I run with my husband, or sometimes I just go by myself. What do you think?
偶爾我和我丈夫一同,偶爾分就本人去。你以為怎樣樣?
Does that sound better? Hopefully, it does.
聽起來好點了嗎?渴望是如此。
This answer uses slightly longer sentences and more varied language. This sounds more natural, is more interesting to listen to, and will also help you if you're taking an English exam such as IELTS.
這個答案句子更長,也用了愈加多樣化的言語。這個聽起來愈加天然,愈加幽默。假如你在到場雅思索試這種英語測驗的話,這種答案對你也有所協助。
Let's look at another example: I do boxing at my local gym.
讓我們看看另一個例子:我在四周的健身房做拳擊。
I go to classes two or three times a week. I don't know the other people in the class.
我每周上兩到三次課。我不熟悉課上的其他人。
What do you think? Could you make this answer better?
你以為怎樣樣?你能讓這個答案更好一點嗎?
Again, it's quite repetitive, because every sentence is a simple sentence starting with 'I'. Think about how you could make this answer more natural-sounding.
這個答案也很反復,由于每句話都很簡便,都是以 “I" 開頭的。想想你可以怎樣讓這個句子聽起來愈加天然。
Pause the video and think about your answer if you want. Any ideas?
假如你想的話,停息視頻,想想你本人的答案。有任何想法嗎?
Here's one suggestion: I go to boxing classes at my local gym two or three times a week.
這里有一個發起:我一周去四周的健身房上兩到三次拳擊課程。
There are several other people who go to the same classes, although I don't know them well. Sound better?
有很多人和我上同一門課程,只管我并不怎樣熟悉他們。聽起來好點了嗎?
Again, you can see that using slightly longer sentences and using varied sentence structures can make your spoken English sound more natural and interesting. Okay, so now you can talk about different sports you like, and say a little about them.
你能看到使用更長的句子和不同品種的句子布局可以讓你的英語白話聽起來愈加天然,也愈加幽默。好的,如今你可以議論你喜好的不同活動了。
Next question: why do you like the sports you like? Why do people do sport?
下一個成績:你為什么喜好你喜好的活動呢?為什么人們要做活動呢?
How many different reasons can you think of? Some people do sport to socialize.
你能想到幾多個不同的緣故?一些人做活動是為了交際。
Others love to compete. For some people, sport is just a way to get fit and stay healthy.
其他人喜好競爭。而關于有些人來說,活動不外是堅持康健的一種辦法罷了。
What about you? Why do you do sport?
那你呢?你為什么喜好活動?
Let's look at two sample answers: I play 5-a-side football with some friends every Sunday.
讓我們看看兩個答案典范:我每周日和一些伙伴踢五對五足球。
For me, the most important thing is the social side. I don't care about the game, or who wins.
對我而言,最緊張的事變是交際方面的。我不是很體貼比賽本身,大概是誰贏了。
I just like having a laugh with some good friends and getting a beer afterwards. Here's another:
我只是喜好和好伙伴們說言笑笑,完畢之后喝杯啤酒。這里是另一個:
I play basketball for a local team. Personally, I love the competition.
我在當地的一支步隊打籃球。對我而言,我喜好競爭。
There's no better feeling than winning a difficult match, or beating a team who beat you last time. I know some people say that sport's about taking part, not winning, but that's not true for me.
沒有什么事變比贏了一場很困難的比賽,大概是打敗了前次你輸給的一支步隊以為更好了。我曉得一些人說活動重在到場,不在乎勝負,但是對我而言并不是如此的。
If you don't play to win, what's the point? What do you think?
假如你不是為了贏的話,那有什么意義呢?你怎樣想的?
Are these good answers? Hopefully, you can see that these are good!
這是好的答案嗎?渴望你能發覺這些答案很好!
Talking about your personal feelings and opinions is your chance to really go into detail and use some interesting language. Let's look at some key words and phrases from the examples you've seen:
議論你一局部的以為和意見是讓你變得愈加具體、使用幽默的言語的很好的時機。讓我們看看這些例子中的一些緊張詞和短語:
For me, the most important thing is… I just like…
對我而言,最緊張的事變是...我只是喜好...
Personally, … There's no better feeling than…
一局部來說,...沒有什么比...以為更好了
You can use these phrases to give your opinion about many different things. For example:
你可以用這些短語說出你本人關于很多不同事物的看法。好比說:
For me, the most important thing is just getting outdoors and being active. I just like the feeling of overcoming a challenge.
對我而言,最緊張的事變是去戶外活動一下。我只是喜好克服挑唆的以為。
Personally, I've always loved being in the water. There's no better feeling than when you're tired after a good game.
就我而言,我十分喜幸而水里的以為。沒什么比一場很棒的比賽之后,肢體的疲勞以為更好了。
What about you? Can you describe why you do sport, and why you like the sports you like?
你怎樣以為?你能形貌你為什么做活動,以及你為什么喜好你喜好的那些活動嗎?
Pause the video, and try to make two or three sentences. Use the language from this section if you can.
停息視頻,造兩到三個句子。假如可以的話,用這局部你學到的言語。
Alright, so now you can say quite a lot about sport. Let's put everything together.
好的,以是如今你能就活動說很多話了。讓我們把一切的東西總結一下吧。
To make a longer answer, you need to: Talk about your general attitude towards sport.
想要說出更長的答案,你必要:議論你關于活動的大抵態度。
Talk about which sports you like. Say where and how often you do sport, and who you do them with.
議論你喜好什么活動。說你在何處以及多久一次做活動,以及和誰一同活動。
Talk about why you do sport. Here's one example:
議論你為什么活動。這是一個例子:
I enjoy some sports, though I'm not a fanatic. Playing football or something like that can be fun, but I don't want to take it too seriously.
我喜好某些活動,只管我并不是一個狂酷喜好者。踢足球還挺幽默的,但是我不想把它搞得太嚴厲。
I play 5-a-side football with some friends every Sunday. We rent a sports hall and play a 60-minute match.
我每周日和一些伙伴踢五對五足球。我們租了一個活動館,踢六十分鐘的比賽。
For me, the most important thing is the social side. I don't really care about the game, or who wins.
對我而言,最緊張的事變是交際。我不是很在乎比賽本身,大概誰贏了。
I just like having a laugh with some good friends and getting a beer afterwards. This example only uses language from the lesson.
我只是喜好和伙伴們說言笑笑,完畢之后去喝杯啤酒。這個例子只是用了這節課學到的言語。
You can see how you can build an interesting, detailed answer using simple ideas. Let's do one more example, using original language and ideas:
你可以試試怎樣用這些簡便的點子構造幽默的、具體的答案。讓我們再做一個例子,使用原汁原味的言語和一些點子:
I don't really like sport that much, but fitness and staying healthy are important to me. That's why I go swimming and do some weight training regularly.
我不是很喜好活動,但是堅持康健對我而言很緊張。那也是為什么我會常常去游泳,以及做一些分量練習的緣故。
I mostly just exercise by myself at the sports centre. Personally, I just do it because I feel I have to.
我通常都是一一局部在體育中央訓練。于我而言,我活動的緣故是由于,我以為我得去活動。
I don't really enjoy it, although I don't mind it, either. I do like feeling healthy and fit, but exercising always feels more like work than something fun.
我不是很喜好活動,不外我也不是很介懷活動。我喜好肢體康健的以為,但是訓練于我而言更像是事情,而不是什么幽默的事變。
Okay, now it's your turn. Make a longer answer like the two you've just seen.
好的,如今輪到你了。模仿剛剛你看到的兩個答案,本人構造一個更長的答案。
Follow the same structure, and use the language from the lesson if you can. Don't forget that you can write your answer down if you want extra practice.
假如可以的話,相沿相似的布局,使用這節課學到的言語。不要忘記假如你想要分外練習的話,你可以寫下你的答案。
Also, it's a good idea to practise your answer several times, until it's really fluent and comfortable. Then, if you're really serious, don't just make one answer!
對了,多次練習你的答案,直到說得很流利、很自如為止是個好想法。然后,假如你真的很仔細的話,不要只構造一個答案!
Make several answers, talking about different sports. Even better, make an answer from someone else's point of view.
構造很多答案,討論不同的活動。更好的是,從其他人的角度來構造答案。
